Shevlin Engineering: reducing energy costs and carbon footprint with solar power

Customer needs

Shevlin Engineering runs a technically advanced 40,000 ft² steel fabrication facility in Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Like many industrial businesses across the west of Ireland, the company was facing rising energy costs and wanted to take a concrete step toward sustainability. The challenge was clear: find a solar solution that would meaningfully cut electricity bills and reduce carbon output — without impacting production.

Our tailored solutions

We deployed a 117 kWp rooftop solar PV system at the Belmullet facility, made up of 259 high-efficiency panels, now generating over 102,000 kWh of clean electricity per year — covering 40% of the site's annual energy needs.

The result speaks for itself: a 3-year payback period, a 33% ROI backed by an output guarantee, and 26 tonnes of CO₂ saved every year. For an industrial operator in rural Co. Mayo, this installation is both a smart financial move and a meaningful step forward in the company's sustainability journey.
