Wohnbaugruppe Ennstal wanted to protect its company-owned data centre from power outages, ensuring continuity for both its own operations and the external service providers using the facility. The customer also wanted to support its mission of providing affordable housing while actively promoting ecological sustainability through the use of solar energy.
Our tailored solutions
EnergieDirect, the Wewise local expert in Austria, expanded the existing photovoltaic system from 29 kWp to 128 kWp and installed a battery storage system designed to compensate for power outages of up to 24 hours. The solution enables the system to switch between external power supply and internal backup in milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted data centre operations.
To further optimise performance, EnergieDirect implemented a weather-based forecast to make the best use of the battery’s charging capacity. An additional interface for an external generator was also added to increase resilience. Together, these measures provide a reliable emergency power supply, reduce energy costs and help Wohnbaugruppe Ennstal strengthen the sustainability of its operations.
