Biotage, a global impact tech company serving pharmaceutical, biotech, forensic and academic markets, was facing relentlessly rising energy costs at its facility in Ystrad Mynach, South Wales. With a large but underutilised roof and a clear need to stabilise energy expenditure over the long term, the company needed a tailored solar solution that would deliver the best possible financial returns.
Our tailored solutions
Using advanced site modelling combined with detailed desktop and on-site surveys, Centreco designed and installed a 138 kWp rooftop solar PV system made up of 372 tier-one panels, covering just 678 m² of roof space — installed in July 2023.
The result: Biotage now benefits from fixed energy rates of just 4.4p per kWh for the long term, providing predictable costs and strong returns in an otherwise volatile energy market. A bespoke solution built around the specific consumption profile of a high-precision, science-driven facility.
