How MHK Group built a solar-first corporate campus near Frankfurt

Customer needs

MHK Group, one of Europe's leading purchasing cooperatives in the kitchen, furniture and bathroom sector, wanted its new company campus in Dreieich, near Frankfurt to embody the energy transition from day one. The challenge was to design a solar solution that would work across multiple buildings while meeting strict fire safety requirements and satisfying the architectural standards of a flagship corporate site.

Our tailored solutions

Wirsol, Wewise local expert in Germany, designed and installed three rooftop PV systems spanning four buildings and covering approximately 2,700 m², with a total capacity of 438 kWp and 1,790 modules. The installation generates 400,000 kWh of clean electricity annually and works in tandem with the site's existing combined heat and power unit, the two systems complementing each other perfectly for maximum energy efficiency and grid independence.

The most demanding aspect of the project was reconciling the site's high fire safety requirements, including emergency shutdown compliance, with the aesthetic vision for the campus. This called for meticulous planning by the Wirsol team. The result: 241 tonnes of CO₂ avoided every year and a campus that sets a strong benchmark for sustainable corporate real estate in the Rhine-Main region.
