Celebrating the Launch of the New Wewise Solar Business in Denmark: A Q&A with Laurids Bach Lauridsen

To mark the launch of our new solar business in Denmark, we spoke with Laurids Bach Lauridsen, Business Developer for DCC Energi, who shared his insights and vision for the future of solar energy in Denmark and beyond.

Q: Can you tell us about the launch of this new solar business in Denmark and your ambitions for the company?
A: The business was started from scratch with the support and knowledge of our colleagues from Solcellekraft in Norway. The initial phase has been very hands-on and experimental; we’ve been placing a major focus on testing what works and what doesn’t in the Danish market. Based on these learnings, our ambition is now to optimise the solutions and processes that show the strongest traction.

Q: What type of customers or projects are you focusing on first?
A: To gain a comprehensive view of the market, we initially targeted a broad range of segments including residential customers, industrial clients and the agricultural sector. This approach helps us understand different use cases for solar and identify where demand is strongest across Denmark.

Q: Why is Denmark a strategic market for solar today?
A: Denmark is entering a period of rapid solar expansion toward 2035, making it a highly attractive and strategic market. The timing is also favourable from a regulatory standpoint. Potential changes could allow solar installations on public buildings, opening new opportunities, while recent adjustments to financing rules are lowering barriers for customers to invest. Together, these factors create strong momentum for solar development.

Q: Looking ahead, what are you most excited about?
A: What’s most exciting is building a strong and scalable foundation. A great first year would mean having robust internal processes in place, seeing rising sales across key segments, and having a clear, well-defined plan for scaling the business further. Achieving these milestones would confirm that the initial approach and market focus were the right ones.
